I Made It!

Sun Nov 1, 2009, 7:31 PM
I have no idea how far I walked this weekend but I know it was a lot; my feet and back tell me so. I shot about 600 pictures of the park and saw a lot of wildlife. No bighorn sheep, but in addition to the usual coyotes, ground squirrels and ravens, I also saw a couple prairie falcons and a cooper's hawk hunting quail in a joshua tree forest. I also learned a lot about landscape photography such as, it takes more than just a pretty scene to make a good picture. If the lighting is not correct, Photoshop can only do so much. That of course applies to any type of photography so I don't know why I didn't fully consider it before I left Friday morning. I met some really cool people too which is always the case when you're hiking far from where normal people go. I'm sure I'll keep in touch with most of them and we'll go hiking and climbing together. In the meantime, I've got pictures to edit...

Thanks for the critique. It was very fair. The MUA and I were trying for an 80s "Madonna" look, with a modern twist.

The shirt does appear slightly blown out on the screen, I was getting numbers in the 240 to 245 range though. I'll double check my numbers, they probably went higher with my curves adjustment.

I did add some warmth to the skin and softened it. We shot in 40 degree temps and there were goosebumps everywhere.

Again, thank you for the critique.

You are very welcome. I am very envious of you and hope to be able to make my living off of photography one day. I hope you had a great day.
